We increased reimbursements of EMG, NCV and Consult reporting by 50%, and recoded

Accounts Receivables Collections:
Every practice has a stack of dusty files that the current receivables staff doesn’t

within 7 months of receiving the accounts from the provider.
- Neurosurgery: We collected $194,000.00 in 2006-2009 Workers’
Comp liens within the first 90 days of beginning work. Many of these claims had been worked on for years by
other companies but were never paid.
- We collected $1,987,000.00 in Workers’ Comp denied
and litigated cases for a bankruptcy trustee.
- Pain Management and Anesthesia:
We collected $1,500,000.00 in Workers’ Comp liens, Health Insurance and PI cases for a
Pain Management Physician for cases dating from 2001-2009.
- Department of Labor: By seeking retro-authorizations
and knowing the DOL guidelines, we collected $69,000.00 for Ortho Shockwave services that had been
previously completely denied.
- Orthopedic Surgeon:
We collected $196,000.00 in 10 months for an Orthopedic Surgeon whose computer and files were lost,
leaving him with no original ledgers or bills. The staff at Westshore worked from various sources
to recreate old bills, locate missing Op reports and collect as many outstanding accounts as possible.
- Blue Cross Neurosurgical Surgery:
We collected $27,000.00 for a surgery that had been previously billed to Aetna in 2009, but had never
been paid. We corrected the coding and filed an appeal, resulting in payment in full for our client.
- Chiropractic Lien:
We recently received an outstanding lien of $13,000.00, plus penalties and interest, which was paid in full at
OMFS within 7 days of receiving the file.

WCAB Litigation:
Here are just a few of the cases we have litigated this year (2011)
on behalf of our clients:
- Chiropractic Lien:
We litigated a 2004 lien that was over $6,000.00 for chiropractic treatment. We attended six hearings
at the Los Angeles WCAB on this lien, and then set it for trial to determine some compensability issues.
The Judge found the chiropractic lien valid. SCIF filed two Petitions for Reconsideration and both
petitions were denied. Finally, the lien was paid in full with penalties and interest.
- Neurosurgical Lien:
We took a treatment lien of $11,000.00 to trial at Los Angeles WCAB and negotiated a $12,481.41 settlement.
- QME Lien:
An unpaid 2005 QME lien of $3,750.00 was completely denied and we set for trail at Salinas WCAB. No lien had ever been filed,
and there was no evidence that QME was ever previously served. We negotiated a settlement for this lien for $4,584.37
prior to trial.
- Ortho Shockwave Lien:
We litigated a $10,000.00 Ortho Shockwave lien at the Pomona WCAB. We were ultimately awarded $8,389.00,
which was significantly over OMFS.
- NCV Testing:
We litigated an $11,000.00 lien for a Neurologist at the Los Angeles WCAB and resolved the lien for $9,000.00,
which was $1,500.00 over OMFS.
